CAA’s Head Start registration underway
Evangeline CAA’s (Community Action Agency) Head Start program will be conducting registration this week at various sites across the parish.
Ville Platte and Chataignier students will be able to register beginning Monday, February 8, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Evangeline CAA Head Start administrative office, 222 S. Coreil Street. If anyone misses registration in their community, registration will continue at the administrative office, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
Head Start will be in Bayou Chicot at the Calvary Baptist Church, Wednesday, February 10, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
In Mamou, registration will be at the Celestine Center Thursday, February 11, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
In Basile, registration will occur at the Basile Head Start Center Thursday, February 11, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Applications will not be taken unless the following requirements are met:
•A child must be three years old by September 30, 2010, or four years old by September 30, 2010. (Applications will be taken for children, who will be three by December 31, 2010. However, these children will not be accepted until they turn three years old.)
•All income in the household for the year of 2009 must be verified. (Check stubs are not acceptable.)
•An official birth certificate is required at registration. Baptismal or christening certificates will not be accepted.
•An updated immunization record showing HIB vaccine will be needed. The card must be stamped by the health unit or doctor that gave the immunizations.
•A social security card is necessary.
•The Head Start program is now recruiting children with identified disabilities. An evaluation from the specialist in the area of the disability must be provided.
