MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Etelle Tate, 90, of Mamou, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 6. Burial followed in the Reed Cemetery in L’anse Meg.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Mr. Tate died at 9:15 a.m., Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou. He was a retired vegetable farmer.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Celestine Fontenot Tate of Mamou; one daughter, Dianna Fontenot and her husband, Blackie, of Mamou; one son-in-law, Joe Deshotel of Mamou; eight grandchildren, Christine Venem and her husband, Rod, Catherine Soileau and her husband, Eric, Danny Deshotel and his wife, Roxie, Janie Berzas and her husband, Johnny, Jerry Fontenot Jr., Missy Fontenot and her husband, Steve, Jessica Fontenot and her husband, Mike, and Joshua Fontenot and his wife, Dawn; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Emma Tate; one daughter, Tarrel Tate Deshotel; and one brother, Leroy Tate.
