VP Civil Service Board appoints new member

The Ville Platte Civil Service Board met Tuesday, December 23, and appointed a new board member.

Ortis sworn in as PP chief

Todd Ortis, who served as a detective in the Mamou Police Department and Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, was elected as Pine Prairie’s new police chief November 4, beating out incumbent L.C. Deshotel. Ortis took his oath of office Tuesday, December 23, in 13th Judicial District Judge Tom Fuselier’s courtroom amongst family and friends who gathered to watch the event. A party and celebration followed.

Judge Launey sworn in for new term

Judge Donald Launey Jr. was sworn in as city court judge for a fourth six-year term Tuesday, December 22. Billy Pucheu had the honor of swearing in Launey for his new term in office.

The Evangeline Parish Industrial Development Board Number One learned at its meeting Tuesday, December 23, that Pine Prairie Energy Center (PPEC) has begun taking on natural gas for storage in its first cavern.
