Sesquicentennial Man and Woman named
The City of Ville Platte named its Sesquicentennial Man and Woman of the Year at its 150th celebration Monday, October 6. The honorees were Eldridge Vidrine and Joyce Coreil.

Senior royalty named
Senior Cotton Festival Royalty La Reine and Le Roi were crowned Tuesday evening during the annual Contradanse at the Northside Civic Center. Residents of Heritage Manor compete each year for these titles, and this year, Betty Jack was crowned La Reine and John Chambers was crowned Le Roi.

The Evangeline Parish Police Jury briefly discussed taking legal action against residents who have not paid their sewage bills during its committee meetings Monday, October 6.
VP Housing to conduct audit

During its meeting Tuesday, October 7, the Ville Platte Housing Authority ordered an audit to be performed so the new interim executive director, Grant Soileau, could start with a clean slate.
Basile and Elton battle for first victory of the season
Both teams are winless thus far in the 2008 football season. Both teams are banged up with injuries which have forced their coaches to almost completely change their offenses. Now will be the time for either Basile or Elton to step up and clinch that first victory of the season.
