Employees of the Evangeline Parish School Board are being notified their health insurance options will be changing as of July 1.
Ville Platte City Council accepts monies earmarked for water project

The Ville Platte City Council accepted over $4 million for its water project and heard an update on some of the city’s other projects during its meeting Tuesday, March 9.
Employees repair gas line
Last week, the City of Ville Platte’s gas and street employees worked on a major gas line repair in Industrial Park for two days.
Jeanne Laborde seeking Third Circuit Court of Appeal’s seat
LAFAYETTE – Jeanne Laborde, a local attorney, today announced her candidacy for Judge, Third Circuit Court of Appeal, District Five, which includes the majority of Lafayette Parish. The election is scheduled for October 2, to replace Judge Michael Sullivan who recently passed away.
Local legislators discuss present overlay project of U.S. 167
The U. S. Highway 167 overlay from Ville Platte to Nuba is underway. The 17-mile roadway serves as a critical gateway for commerce between St. Landry and Evangeline Parish.
“DOTD expects the $3.2 million project to be completed in June. You can expect some minor delays when you the travel that road, but hopefully they will be minimal, said Senator Eric LaFleur, who has received some complaints. “We have to try to be patient and let them complete the work. It will be worth it,” said LaFleur.
Scouts visit Ville Platte Police Department
The Mamou Cub Scouts, Tiger Club Pack 322, toured the Ville Platte Police Department January 31. Sgt. Shawn Duplechain conducted the tour.
