SH reschedules cheer camp
The Sacred Heart High School Trojan Cheer Camp, scheduled for Saturday, September 6, has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 11. Sign-in or late registration will be from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Camp will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Performance for parents will be at 11:20 a.m. Participants will perform at half-time Friday, October 17, when Westminster Crusaders versus SHHS Trojans at Trojan Field.

Shephard’s Gala cancelled
Due to Hurricane Gustav, Cornerstone International Ministries of Ville Platte has cancelled its September 12, Shephard’s Gala until a later date.

Church revival set
Antioch Baptist Church Revival will be September 30, to October 3, at 7 p.m. nightly. The public is invited.

Farm Bureau meeting cancelled
The Evangeline Parish Farm Bureau Board of Directors’ monthly meeting will be cancelled for September due to Hurricane Gustav. A meeting will be rescheduled for the following month and you will be notified.

Billeaudeau reunion set
The Billeaudeaux family will host its annual get-together at Nick’s on Second in Eunice Saturday, October 4, from 10:30 a.m. until. Family members, please join everyone for the annual reunion. Lunch and beverages will be available for purchase. In addition, please bring any relevant family records and photos. If you wish to participate in the entertainment, bring your instruments and your voice.

Faith House plans awareness campaign
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and October 1, Faith House will sponsor a “Remembrance” in the Town Square Park from 5 to 7 p.m. Bring your chairs. Hot dogs and coke will be sold. Faith House will accept paper towels and toilet paper as a donation for the women who utilize their services. There will be karaoke with Sandy Rogers. Everyone is invited.

Dinner rescheduled
The Jambalaya Dinner Fundraiser, sponsored by the Catholic Churches of Ville Platte, is rescheduled for next Sunday, September 14. The dinners can be picked up at the KC Home around 11 a.m. Those who have already purchased tickets should keep them and present them next week to pick up their dinners. Anyone who would like to purchase a dinner ticket may do so at Sacred Heart or Queen of All Saints churches by Tuesday, September 9. The cost is $7.

Sandwiches to be sold
The Mamou VFW will sell barbecue Boston Butt sandwiches Wednesday, September 10, at the VFW Hall, located at Main and East streets from 11 a.m. to 12 noon for $3 per sandwich. Tickets will be sold by members.

Residents reminded not to litter
The City of Ville Platte would like to remind residents dumping trash, branches and other litter into our canals and open ditches is illegal and violators will be issued citations.

Cheerleading Camp planned
Cheerleading Camp will be held at Mamou High School Saturday, September 20, from 9 a.m. till noon for pre-K through fourth grade and 2 to 5 p.m. for fifth and eighth grade. Cost is $25 per child. This includes a t-shirt and a snack, cheers, small stunts and proper jump techniques. Pick up your registration at MHS, high school football games or from a football cheerleader.

CE to host hunter education course
In conjunction with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Evangeline Parish Delta Waterfowl Chapter is sponsoring a “hunter education” class at Chataignier Elementary School September 15th, and 16th, from 3 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by Bayou Marine Center and Ortego’s Food Lane of Ville Platte. The class is limited to 30 participants. Interested persons should contact the school before September 12, at 885-3173.
