MARY TEZENO
November 26, 1937 - September 30, 2008

Funeral services will be held for Mary Tezeno, 70, of Ville Platte, at Disciple Baptist Church in Ville Platte at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 4. Burial will follow in the Ninth Baptist Church Cemetery,
Ms. Tezeno died Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at Ville Platte Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons, Nelson “Brother” Tezeno of Ville Platte and Norris “Tiny” Tezeno of Germany; one daughter, JoAnn “Tina” Tezeno of Ville Platte; one granddaughter, who she loved and raised as a daughter, Nickey “Koquise” Moment of Ville Platte; two brothers, Walter LaFleur Jr. of Mamou and Patrick LaFleur of Baton Rouge; one step-brother, Charles Lee Thomas of Ville Platte; and seven sisters, Georgia Fontenot of Texas City, Texas, Dorothy Ceasar of Mamou, Sheryl LaFleur of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Mona Thomas of Lake Charles and Lillian LaFleur, Lougenia Arvie and Alice LaFleur, all of Ville Platte; two step-sisters, Patricia James of Baton Rouge and Catherine Thomas of Ville Platte; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Tezeno; her parents, Walter Lafleur Sr. and Lillie Mose Tezeno; one brother, Ewell “Popey” LaFleur; and one sister, Gloria Lavigne.
Rev. Leroy Jack Jr. will officiate.

ROSE B. GRANGER
April 14, 1918 - September 26, 2008

MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Rose B. Granger, 90, of Allen, Texas, at First Baptist Church in Mamou at 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 30. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
A native of Mamou, Ms. Granger died at 4:50 p.m., Friday, September 26, 2008, at McKinney Health Care and Rehabilitation in Texas.
Survivors include two daughters, Delores Lambert of Allen, Texas, and Bonnie G. Vincent and her husband, Rob, of Sulphur; two sisters, Jean O’Neal and her husband, Milton, of Lake Charles and Joyce V. Darbonne of Mamou; four grandchildren, Karen Adams, Mitchell Lambert, Melissa McDermott and Robert Vincent; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Saline Bertrand; her husband, Curley Granger; one brother, Atney Bertrand; and one son-in-law, Don W. Lambert.
Brother Ervin Goodman officiated.

JOSEPH LEE SOILEAU
October 21, 1922 - September 29, 2008

ST. LANDRY - Funeral services were held for Joseph Lee Soileau, 85, of St. Landry, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in St. Landry at 4 p.m., Wednesday, October 1. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Soileau died Monday, September 29, 2008. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a loving father, brother and grandfather.
Survivors include one son, Robert Soileau and his fiance’, Sally Hadley, of St. Landry; one daughter, Patsy Soileau of St. Landry; one brother, Melvin Soileau of Whiteville; one sister, Verna Guillory of Ville Platte; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Hillman and her husband, Chip, Robert Soileau Jr. and Michael Soileau and Carla Longino, all of St. Landry; five great-grandchildren; and his long-time companion, Anita Soileau.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lessie Joubert Soileau; his parents, Clifton and Alice Soileau; one brother, Elton Soileau; and one sister, Hazel Lafleur.

RICHARD FONTENOT
June 7, 1943 - September 30, 2008

Funeral services will be held for Richard Fontenot, 65, of Ville Platte, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 2 p.m., today, October 2. Burial will follow in the M.B. Fontenot Cemetery.
Mr. Fontenot died Tuesday, September 30, 2008. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother.
Survivors include one son, Tyrone Fontenot of Ville Platte; two daughters, Mrs. Cary (Rachael Fontenot) Lee of Ville Platte and Mrs. Jimmy (Shelly Fontenot) Fontenot of Sugarland, Texas; one brother, Larry Lloyd Fontenot of DeQuincy; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

RITA GAYLE JOUBERT
July 10, 1951 - September 27, 2008

Funeral services were held for Rita Gayle Joubert, 57, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 29. Burial followed in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Ms. Joubert died at 3:25 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2008, at Ville Platte Medical Center.
Survivors include one son, Christopher J. Fontenot and his wife, Jenny, of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Michelle Fontenot Bertrand of Broussard and Jamie Fontenot Deshotels and her husband, Cody, of Grand Prairie; one brother, Larry Joubert and his wife, Donna, of Point Blue; one sister, Wanda Faye Joubert of Ville Platte; one grandson, Cole Bertrand; and one niece, Danielle Joubert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hosea and Lana Lafleur Joubert; and one nephew, Christopher John Guillory.

EMERY GUILLORY
November 8, 1929 - September 28, 2008

OBERLIN - Funeral services were held for Emery Guillory, 78, of Oberlin, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 30. Burial with military honors followed in the Oberlin Mausoleum.
Mr. Guillory died Sunday, September 28, 2008. He was employed with the Soil and Water Conservation Service for 54 years. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for 30 years. He was a veteran of the US Army, member of the VFW and former post commander with the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with family, attending automobile auctions, hunting and Tuesday night suppers with friends.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Joan Guillory of Oberlin; three sons, Keith Guillory and Joseph Guillory, both of Oberlin, and Nicholas Guillory and his wife, Connie, of Lake Charles; and one brother, Joseph R. Guillory of Ville Platte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Rhea Guillory.

RODNEY ‘BILL’ THOMAS
May 29, 1933 - September 25, 2008

Funeral services will be held for Rodney “Bill” Thomas, 75, of Ville Platte, at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Ville Platte at 11 a.m., Friday, October 3. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.
Mr. Thomas died Thursday, September 25, 2008, at Savoy Care Center in Mamou.
Survivors include two daughters, Gayle Boyd of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sherry Lynn Glasker of Virginia; two brothers, Isaac Thomas and Raymond Thomas, both of New Orleans; and nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes Moore and Maxie Hall.

MARY MARTHA ROBERTSON
July 4, 1954 - September 29, 2008

Funeral services will be held for Mary Martha Robertson, 54, of Mamou, at St. Peter’s Baptist Church in Point Blue at 7 p.m., Friday, October 3. Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 4, at the church cemetery.
Ms. Robertson died Monday, September 29, 2008, at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou.
Survivors include two sons, Victor Dale Robertson and Ramson Robertson Jr., both of Mamou; one daughter, Victoria Robertson of Mamou; one step-brother, Jeffery Jackson of Crowley; one sister, Shirley Tezeno of Oakdale; one granddaughter, Aaliyonnah Robertson of Mamou; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramson Robertson Sr.; and her mother, Martha Guillory Jackson.

ROLLAN SOILEAU SR.
March 4, 1923 - September 29, 2008

MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Rollan Soileau Sr., 85, of Mamou, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 1. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Mausoleum.
A retired painter, Mr. Soileau died at 7:15 a.m., Monday, September 29, 2008, at Ville Platte Medical Center. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Rollan Soileau and his wife, Diana, Bobby Soileau and his wife, Lucille, and Ted P. Soileau and his wife, Debbie, all of Mamou; one sister, Dorothy Schuff of Moss Bluff; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Euna G. “Blonde” Soileau; his parents, Curtis and Lula Soileau; four brothers, Willard, Durffy, Burkman and Arvin Joe Soileau; two sisters, Euna May Mayeaux and Barbara Dean Soileau; one grandson, Ted “Boogie” Soileau; and one great-grandson, Tyson Dade Soileau.
