Dear Editor,
As employees of the Evangeline Parish Office of family support, Department of Social Services, we would like to thank the following persons, organizations and places of business in providing food to us during our long hours while implementing the disaster food stamp program for our parish. Also, special thanks to Jennifer Vidrine in organizing the food schedule. You were great!

Fontenot encourages residents to cast ballot against ‘school tax’
Dear Editor,
People of Ward One, I have to be very meticulous on the way I write this letter because I don’t want to offend anyone. All I want is to make my point. First, I want to applaud the school board members who voted “no” on this tax. As for the ones who voted “yes,” I think when they run for re-election, they must have to pay a price. We all know Evangeline Parish is one of the poorest parishes in the state. We cannot afford a world-class school that resembles the TajMahal. We just can’t! We all know that a lot of fat cold be trimmed on this project, if they would be willing to do so.
We must build a school that is within our means, not above our means. An example: if you are shopping for a new vehicle and you stop at a Toyota dealership; most of us can’t even look at the most expensive model. We know we can’t afford that. We have to get a Corolla or Camry, something within our means. I know a lot of people are thinking I am comparing apples to oranges but that does not change the bottom line. People of Ward One, do you know if this tax passes, you, your children and your grandchildren will be paying this tax for most of your life?
When you go to cast your vote on election day, please remember we can’t build a school that is above our means. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. May God bless you and your family.
