Minister’s Corner: The vision for your life Part II

Last week, we quoted 1 Corinthians 2:10. It starts off with simply, “But God.” That which we could not receive through our own wisdom and understanding, God has revealed to us by His spirit. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” That’s an often-quoted verse, but we need it freshened to our hearts again. The New King James Version says, “Where there is no revelation the people cast off restraint.” The New International version says it this way: “Where there is no vision the people dwell carelessly.” What are the implications of that for us?
Without that ongoing revelation of God to your life, the Word of the Lord to you about your life and its purpose, without the revelation of the Spirit it causes us to live carelessly without boundaries. The force of your life becomes dissipated. You begin to lose strength, focus and meaning. You begin to drift, and it is so easy for you to lose perspective and lose vision.
Your life must be defined not by what you want to do but by what God is saying you are to become. Ask God what He is speaking to your life, what is its purpose, what is His vision. When you have the answers to those questions, you will be able to say no to a host of things that clutter and obstruct your life and yes to the thing that God is speaking to your life. God’s vision that He implants in your life comes from Divine intiative. Joseph got that vision from God, so will you.
