New sheriff takes oath

Sheriff Eddie Soileau was surrounded by family and friends as he took his oath of office Tuesday, July 1. He thanked everyone for their support and recognized Sheriff Wayne Morein for his work as sheriff. He said he would be working to improve services and other areas of the department. Funding will be a key issue and he will be looking for ways to increase funding.
