In Class 2A, the teams of Evangeline Parish had to battle in two pretty tough districts. Mamou and Pine Prairie were involved in District 5-2A, one of the strongest in the state. Ville Platte and Sacred Heart competed in District 6-2A, a district that has always been tough and has some great traditional powerhouses. All four teams were fortunate to have team members named to their respective All-District teams when they were released last week.

Fast breaks are common in basketball. They happen many times per game. Unfortunately for the Mamou Demons, the Red River Bulldogs used the fast break over and over to score points in Friday’s Class 2A quarter-final match-up. The Bulldogs also found a way to take advantage of several missed shots from Mamou. No matter what happened, the basket just kept squeezing the ball right out of the rim. In the end, the Demons were uprooted by the Bulldogs 55-31 and eliminated from the playoffs.
