Counterfeit money circulating in Ville Platte

Police Chief Neal Lartigue with the Ville Platte Police Department is warning residents of counterfeit bills being issued in the city.

On March 29, the department received a complaint of counterfeit money being used at a local business. Businesses and individuals should be careful when accepting money. Check the bills carefully and pay attention to the people and places where the money comes from. If you have money that you feel may be counterfeit, Lartigue urges you to contact the Ville Platte Police Department immediately.

“We are continuing our investigation,” Lartigue said. “We ask for the help of our citizens in identifying anyone who may be using counterfeit money in the city.
