ST. LANDRY - Yesterday, agents with Louisiana State Police Region II Criminal Investigation Division arrested a St. Landry man and his girlfriend for charges of obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud. In October 2009, agents began an investigation on 31-year-old Devin Acaldo, and his girlfriend 29-year-old Stephanie Campbell. During the investigation, agents learned Acaldo and Campbell were obtaining the same prescription medication from a doctor in St. Landry Parish and a doctor in Bossier Parish at the same time. Their investigation indicated Acaldo and Campbell had been receiving the medication for approximately one year.

On October 22, agents served an arrest warrant on both Acaldo and Campbell. Acaldo was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on 14 counts of obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud in Bossier Parish. Campbell also was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on 13 counts of obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud in Bossier Parish.

At the time of the arrest Acaldo was employed by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, and was at work when he was arrested. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected in St. Landry Parish.
