Lonnie Sonnier was the first to qualify. He signed up for the school board District One, Ward One seat.
Fifty-five people qualified as candidates for the October 2, election Wedensday, July 7, at the Evangeline Parish Clerk of Courts Office.
Persons interested in qualifying for this election, must complete the necessary paperwork at the courthouse July 8, or Friday, July 9, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
