Mr. Hargrave, Miss Schexnayder plan Nov. 25 nuptials

The engagement of Miss Lyndsey Nacole Schexnayder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Maurice Schexnayder of Ville Platte to Mr. Kayne Micheal Hargrave, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell James Hargrave of Maurice, has been announced by their parents.

Pat Derouselle, President of the Louisiana Cotton Festival, was the guest of Rotarian Bill Brunet at Tuesday’s meeting of the Ville Platte Rotary Club.

Looking Back: September 1961

With the disappearance of the old DeRouen home from its location on central Main Street, only one residence now remains in that thoroughfare’s principal business district (from its intersection with Court to its intersection with Chataignier Street). The original portion of this old landmark was built about a decade before the Civil War by Bartholomew Coreil. It was acquired at his succession sale by the DeRouen family and was the late residence of the late congressman Rene L. Derouen and his wife.

During its first meeting of September, the club heard from fellow Rotarian and Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine. She first congratulated the Sacred Heart Trojans on winning the Tee Cotton Bowl.

Robeline’s Kay named 2017 Tournoi Pageant Queen

New royalty was crowned Saturday, at the Louisiana Tournoi Pageant. The newly crowned queens were Miss Samara Lafleur, Miss Charlie Bieber, and Miss Holly Kay.
