Trucking into the Christmas spirit

December 24, 1968- A UNITED STATES FLAG, which flew over the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., was presented to Sacred Heart High School of Ville Platte Wednesday by Congressman Edwin Edwards in ceremonies at the school. In the left photo, Monsignor Bourgeois accepts the flag from Edwards for and on behalf of the Sacred Heart students. Msgr. Bourgeois and Edwards stand with Michael Quinn (right photo), a 1966 graduate of Sacred Heart and a third-year student at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. Home on Christmas leave, Quinn was Edwards’ first military academy appointment after he was elected to the unexpired term of the late T.A. Thompson and is the first military academy appointee from Ville Platte in 20 years. It was the first time Edwards and Quinn had met each other.
