Local contractor Steve Phillips is named Ville Platte Rotarian of the Year

After three months of not holding any meetings, the Rotary Club of Ville Platte returned to its Rotary ways with Rotary friends as it held its annual Installation Banquet at Cafe Evangeline on Tuesday, June 30. The night began with a social hour where Rotarians and their guests visited after their long isolation from each other. Once the banquet started, it was back to business as usual. The Rotary Grace, Pledge of Allegiance, and the Four-Way Test were recited, and Rotarian Brent Coreil led a rendition of “America” with a piano accompaniment. Outgoing president Nicole Wenger gave her farewell remarks and went over what the club accomplished over the COVID shortened year. District 6200 Governor Harold Domingue, them, gave his remarks on the progress of Rotary in such areas as the eradication of polio before installing the officers for the next year. The highlight of the night was when Steve Phillips was named Rotarian of the Year.
