Butlers named Evangeline Parish philanthropists of the year
Gobble Gully owners Rhonda and Frank Butler have been named the recipients of the 2017 Leaders in Philanthropy Award for their generosity and contributions to the communities of Evangeline Parish.
In a release from the Community Foundation of Acadiana, it states that the local business owners were “nominated by Anita Fontenot, a past Leaders in Philanthropy honoree and entrepreneur.”
The couples’ “journey towards youth activism,” according to the release, began “when they became grandparents.”
The parish residents said, “The need for this type of community space to get kids moving outdoors was important.”
The Butlers have used their paint ball business to “familiarize people with gun safety and encourage family bonding.”
“Overall,” the release states, “we wanted kids from the community to have a fun place to work off stress and blow off steam.” According to the release, one of Frank’s missions is to “teach every child that comes through Gobble Gully that through giving they can help others contribute to their families and community.”
The local business owners “operate a popular paint ball business that caters to kids, called Gobble Gully in Turkey Creek.”
The release went on to state that the Butlers “have invested their time and money into making sure the course helps instill confidence in every child that comes to play and work.”
