Screenings are in place
Sheriff-elect Charles Guillory said Thursday the Evangeline Parish Courthouse is screening anyone who comes in the courthouse, and they will take their temperature. If their temperature is above 100.4, they will not be allowed to enter. Guillory also said in criminal court, the defendant’s family will not be allowed inside the courtroom during arraignment, and screening will be done on the defendant. They are also not allowing anyone in the fine or tax department. Citizens who need to make payments can mail them to 200 Court Street, Suite 100, Ville Platte, LA 70586, or can use a debit or credit card over the phone. These new precautions will last until further notice.
Also on Thursday, Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine shared information about screenings in Evangeline Parish. Call 337-291-8200 if you have any of the following symptoms: a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher; persistent coughing; shortness of breath. You will be given instructions if you need to go to the Lafayette Cajun Dome for testing.
Mayor Vidrine said, “When you call, please listen carefully and follow the instructions. If you have any general questions about the coronavirus or any other benefits such as SNAP, unemployment, etc., call 211.”
She added, “Please continue to practice precautions and take this virus seriously! In times like these, we need a savior! Pray without ceasing! Keep praying and praying and praying!”
