Acosta Foundation continues food distribution Tuesday
The Acosta Foundation was awarded a grant from the Community Foundation of Acadiana and the Evangeline Foundation to assist residents in Evangeline Parish who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. This grant was issued to help those who experienced a reduction in hours, loss of employment, or had to close their business.
The first round of food was given out to over 100 families on May 9th at The Hatchery. The Acosta Foundation will be hosting a second event where they will deliver the packages to nearby towns to make it easier for residents.
Connie Lamke, head of the Acosta Foundation, said the Evangeline Foundation partnered with the Community Foundation of Acadiana to help Evangeline Parish residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Acosta Foundation was chosen to host the distribution. “I was very happy to help our residents that were faced with such a sudden and harsh impact on their lives. It’s personally rewarding to help our neighbors, support our local businesses and work together to keep our communities going.”
Information needed to receive a package:
• A bill showing you reside in Evangeline Parish
• Any paperwork showing reduced hours, layoff or closing of business due to COVID-19. Even those who are starting to go back to work will qualify.
