Evangeline Parish schools closed Thursday due to possible severe weather
Evangeline Parish Superintendent of Schools Darwan Lazard requested that the school board close all public schools Thursday, April 18, 2019, due to the possible severe weather that is expected to hit the parish between 12 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The Superintendent said he had spoken with Liz Hill, Director of Evangeline Parish 9-1-1 and the Office of Emergency Preparedness, and because of the unpredictablility of the weather they are concerned about the weather on Thursday.
The board agreed closing schools would be the best decision.
Lazard said all principals, maintenance crew, custodians and supervisors must report to work Thursday to make sure their campuses and offices are secure before the Easter break begins on Friday, April 19, 2019.
The Superintendent made this announcement during the board’s Wednesday meeting before wishing all staff, students and everyone in Evangeline Parish a very happy Easter.
