Smoked Meat board cancels 2018 festival
On Thursday, it was announced that for the first time in 26 years, there will be no Louisiana Smoked Meat Festival this year.
According to an e-mail from the festival’s board of directors it states that “there are several factors that have influenced the board’s decision to cancel the festival.” The board also said that this “was not an easy decision.”
In its announcement, the board stated, “There are many, many details that go into making this festival happen,” and that “getting volunteers has always been a challenge with today’s hectic family schedules.”
The board does have plans to discuss possibly “re-branding” the festival, which means that the La. Smoked Meat Fest. could return next year.
However, those are all decisions the board of directors said will be made when the board gathers for a meeting later this year.
In closing, the board of directors said they “are grateful to those of you who have supported, contributed and volunteered in the past! Thank you so much for understanding.”
