Ville Platte Mayor declares April 10 Floyd's Record Shop Day

The City of Ville Platte's mayor, Jennifer Vidrine, made a surprise visit to Floyd's Record Shop on Chataignier St.


Law enforcement officers with the Ville Platte Police Department and the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office are pictured during a standoff that occurred Sunday evening on East Wilson Street in Ville Platte. The standoff lasted more than two hours and ended with the suspect - Davonte Ardoin - being arrested and charged with murder. During the standoff, Ardoin shot and killed 21-year-old Rene Williams as well as 30-year-old James Macias. He also shot at law enforcement and struck an officers unit. (Gazette photo by Tony Marks)

Ardoin arrested after police standoff and fatal shooting

The Ville Platte Police Department has arrested Davonte M. Ardoin in connection with a shooting on East Wilson Street that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Rene Williams.
