ANITA “NEAT” B. FONTENOT
VILLE PLATTE – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, for Anita “Neat” B. Fontenot, 79, who passed away on October 28, 2018 in Ville Platte.
Father Tom Voorhies, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, was celebrant of the mass and conducted funeral services.
Burial took place in St. Peters cemetery in Grand Prairie.
Anita “Neat” B. Fontenot was born in Grand Prairie, on November 15, 1938 to Melvin Briley and Ezied Dupre Briley. Ms. Neat was a selfless, strong, independent and a “Tell it like it is” kind of lady. She had a tremendous love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family filled her heart with pride and she would brag about them. Ms. Neat was an amazing cook. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors in her garden and she loved her flowers. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her eight children, Michael Lynn Fontenot, Dianne Fontenot, Gerald Fontenot and wife, Kathy all of Ville Platte, Tammy Marie Vidrine and husband, Scott of Pineville, Joseph Tony Fontenot, Monica Kate Fontenot and wife, Hollie, Kenneth Fontenot, and Glenn Fontenot all of Ville Platte; 13 grandchildren, Kyle, Derek, Josh, Jacob, Jami, Hailey, Tanner, Cam, Dylan, Brant, Scarlet, Erica and Shelby; 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Euna Fontenot of Ville Platte; two brothers, Johnny Briley and wife, Eunice of New Orleans and James Jim Briley of Ville Platte.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harris Fontenot; one son, Carl Brent Fontenot; one granddaughter, Joni Katherine Fontenot and nine siblings.
The family requested that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. A rosary was recited by Deacon Ben Soileau at 6:00 p.m. Visitation resumed on Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
